Modern Family’s Nolan Gould Says Ty Burrell Is His Best Friend in Real Life
We always think of the Modern Family kids as being far older than they look — both in actual age and in maturity. But, as this new interview with Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy) proves, if you look like a kid, you’ll probably be treated like one on-set, no matter how high your IQ is.
A native of Alabama, Nolan spoke to Alabama Local about how the on-screen Dunphys are more like a family than a bunch of co-workers, what his next career move is, and what he’s doing with that banjo Ellen DeGeneres gave him on her show.
But, as he tells it, he has two moms: the one he’s had since birth, and one in Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy). “[She’s like] my mom in real life...She’s always fussing and fixing my hair, and she’s always cleaning things off my face,” says Nolan.
As for Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy), Nolan says, “The only person who isn’t like a relative to me is Ty. He’s not really a dad to me; he’s more like my best friend. We’re always joking around, thinking about how to survive the zombie apocalypse and having Nerf wars and stuff like that.”
Sometimes life really does imitate art.
