So You Think You Can Dance Choreographer Sentenced to 10 Years in Jail For Rape, Assault
Former So You Think You Can Dancechoreographer Alex Da Silva has reportedly been sentenced to 10 years in jail on the charge of rape. One of the scariest aspects of the charges is the fact that aspiring dancers who worked with him are the ones who brought the allegations.
RadarOnline reports that Alex “was arrested in 2009 and charged with eight felony counts of assault stemming from allegations of rape and assault...Da Silva pleaded not guilty, a jury...found him guilty of rape on a 22-year-old woman from a 2002 incident and guilty of intent to commit rap on a 25-year-old woman during a 2009 incident.”
The 43-year-old hasn’t appeared as an instructor since 2008, when he was a mentor on SYTYCD Season 4. It’s safe to say that he’ll never appear on this, or any other dancing competition show, ever again.
