The Office’s Mindy Kaling Is Getting Her Own Show on FOX

Dunder Mifflin is quite the leaky ship. First The Office lost Steve Carell (Michael Scott), then we heard a Dwight (Rainn Wilson)-centric spin-off is in the works, and now Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) might be leaving the show — for her own sitcom!

FOX recently ordered the pilot of Mindy's sitcom, which the accomplished funny girl — she's a bestselling author, Emmy award-winning writer, and an actress — both stars in and executive produces.

The show is apparently about a Bridget Jones-esque OB/GYN trying to (what else?) balance her private life and her professional career. Hilariously, we assume.

This pilot was originally developed for NBC, but the network passed. We're glad FOX gave it a chance. We love Mindy's quick wit, and as much as we'd miss her on The Office, we hope to see this show on the small screen come fall.
