16 and Pregnant Update: Ebony Jackson Checks Into Rehab, Granted Visitation Rights
Last time we checked in on 16 and Pregnant’s Ebony Jackson, she had just popped out a baby and was disappointed to learn that she’d have to put off her dreams of joining the US Air Force. Ebony is one of just two ladies from the first season of 16 and Pregnant who wasn’t chosen to star on Teen Mom, but she’s managed to stay in the tabloids! And not in a good way.
After Ebony’s episode aired back in 2009, she married her baby daddy, Josh Rendon, who graduated from tech school and joined the Air Force. Meanwhile, Ebony graduated from high school and the couple moved into a home on Josh’s military base, where she suffered a tragic miscarriage in the summer of 2011.
Ebony’s loss left her severely depressed, and in June 2011 she was hospitalized for suicide prevention. Sadly, her predicament only got worse when she and Josh were arrested on September 9, 2011 for drug possession and endangering their daughter, Jocelyn, after The Department of Health Services discovered that their home was unfit to live in. The DHS claimed they found large amounts of human and dog feces in the home, but Ebony explained that it was due to a litter of six puppies.
“A litter of puppies of course is going to damage your floor and that’s exactly what we were putting up with,” Ebony said at the time. “We never have our house that dirty. Our daughter never lives like that. Our daughter is always taken care of. She will always be taken care of. Our daughter always comes first in our lives and I don’t want anyone to think that we are just a couple of drug heads because we’re not.”
Ebony and Josh both posted bail for a total of $16,000, and after cleaning up their act they were granted visitation rights. Ebony checked into a rehabilitation center for a week shortly after being arrested, and went back into rehab in November 2011.
As far as we know, Josh has been honorably discharged from the Air Force, and the couple have managed to stay out of the news for the past few months. Here’s to hoping they’re on the right path to cleaning up their lives and getting their daughter back!
