What if Sara Ramirez Had Never Joined the Cast of Grey’s Anatomy?

In the spirit of Grey's Anatomy’s alt-reality episode, Season 8, Episode 13: "If/Then," star Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) sat for an interview with Latina magazine in which she dished on what would have happened had she never joined the cast of Grey's. Considering she was picked up hot off the heels of a Tony win for originating the role of Lady of the Lake in Spamalot, the Julliard-trained actress probably would have continued her Broadway career.

"If I never starred on Grey's Anatomy, I would probably still live in New York!" she told Latina. "Maybe another opportunity would have brought me out to Los Angeles, who knows?"

Uh, we'll go ahead and thank Shonda now for snatching up this stage diva and bringing her to our TV screens. Although, we're sure she would have fit in quite nicely amongst the cast members of NBC's upcoming Broadway-centric drama Smash, which shoots in her native New York. Just saying...

Remember to tune in to the episode on Thursday, February 9, at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC.
