American Idol

Adam Lambert Says He’s Not Joining Queen

Last week, The Daily Star reported that American Idol alum Adam Lambert would be taking over lead singer duties for legendary band Queen. The group’s original vocalist, Freddie Mercury, died in 1991, and Lambert has sung with them before, both on Idol and during the EMAs in November 2011. According to Lambert’s Twitter account, reports of him joining Queen were greatly exaggerated.

“Oooh them clever reporters takin my quotes outta context.... I haven't confirmed any guest appearances. I was talking about the EMA'S. :),” tweeted Lambert. In the article, Lambert was quoted as saying, “Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen.” The Daily Star claimed Lambert would join Queen at the Sonisphere Festival this summer.

“That being said, I'm truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!! :)” Lambert concluded. While we appreciate Adam setting the record straight, we were really looking forward to hearing Adam belt “We Are the Champions” again.
