Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Recap of the Season 2 Reunion, Part 2: Brandi Glanville Stirs Up Trouble!
Beware of tire damage! Tonight’s Part 2 of the Season 2 Reunion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was even wilder than last week’s, with the ladies discussing betrayals, the times they hid in bathrooms, and curse words galore (even ones that were spelled out). All we know for sure is that there is no actual singer named “Angry Spice” (and if there were, that’s probably not the kind of name that would attract any famous soccer players).
This week’s reunion added Brandi Glanville to the mix, and wow, did she ever make things interesting! The episode begins with a discussion of Brandi’s sexy style, as she criticized the other ladies’ old-fashioned bathing suits. When Brandi was asked why she wore a skimpy bikini in front of married men, Brandi said that there were only two married men, as Paul was a “question mark,” which Adrienne Maloof obviously didn’t appreciate. We never knew punctuation could cause such sore feelings.
Kyle Richards admits that she indeed acted like a “mean girl” and was “immature” on game night, and Brandi says she lost her temper and shouldn’t have called out Kim for “crystal meth.” So we’re making progress, yes? Uh, not so fast! Brandi then says that child stars are bullies, and when Brandi won’t let Kyle off the hook for not telling her that Kim had hidden her crutches, Kyle tells her to “give it a rest.” So much for water under the bridge.
Cursing becomes a focal point of the evening, as host Andy Cohen reveals that Camille Grammer and Adrienne swore the least during the season, while the title of the Most Bleeped Housewife went to — no shocker! — Brandi. (In fact, how did the other ladies not guess immediately that Brandi was the most-bleeped?) The ladies then share their favorite swear words, and Camille inexplicably goes with “poopy stink.” Way to walk on the wild side, Camille!
The women have clearly caught Giggy Fever (but who hasn’t?!), as the pampered pooch is conversation fodder again, just like last week. This time, Adrienne mentions that she wasn’t pleased that Giggy drank out of her crystal stemware. Lisa Vanderpump says she would be fine with Jackpot drinking out of her own fancy glasses, which Adrienne doesn’t buy, prompting a frosty look from Lisa. Suffice it to say, Giggy and Jackpot won’t be having many playdates in the near future.
The ladies discuss the difference between being “sexy” and being “slutty,” with Brandi telling Kyle that doing the splits qualifies as the latter. (Don’t tell that to Olympian Shawn Johnson.) We then get one of the odder comments of the night, with Taylor Armstrong saying she took Lisa’s humor too seriously because there are no British people in Oklahoma. Um... okay. (Are Monty Python and The Office banned in Oklahoma, too?)
One of the most contentious topics arises when Brandi outs Adrienne as the person who has been insulting Lisa behind her back, citing people who work for Adrienne. Adrienne is hurt that Brandi would tell Lisa that, since Adrienne thought that she and Brandi were friends, but Brandi says that Adrienne hasn’t seen her since the show wrapped, whereas Lisa has made time to meet up with her (like at Brandi’s birthday party).
Camille says that Taylor threw her under the bus at Lisa’s tea party, as Camille maintains that she never told Taylor that she would team up with her against Lisa. Brandi says that Lisa even defended Taylor off-camera when Brandi told Lisa that Russell told her that Taylor was aware of the email that he sent to Camille. Brandi remains steadfast in her belief that Taylor knew about the email.
This then leads to arguably the most heated moment of the night. Taylor brings up the claim made by Brandi’s ex that she slit his motorcycle tires — which Brandi then hilariously owns up to, in a way that only Brandi can — leading Taylor to say that she rests her case. Brandi then asks when Taylor’s book is coming out, saying it’s been a “hot minute” since Russell’s passing. At this point, anger ensues — and a lot of it.
Taylor defends herself, saying that the book will help save lives, and Kyle says that Brandi should walk in Taylor’s shoes first. Kyle then refers to Brandi as “Angry Spice,” to which Brandi asks what that makes Kyle. (Uh, is there an “Amazing-Hair Spice”?)
Brandi points out that Kyle hasn’t contacted her since the show, except to warn her about an especially mean blog post. Kyle counters that she invited Brandi to her holiday party, which Brandi says she wouldn’t want to go to. (Feel the love!) Kyle then calls Brandi two-faced, saying that Brandi accidentally sent her a text in which she called her the c-word, which Kyle spells for us. That’s one word that won’t be appearing on the Spelling Bee this year.
Kyle then says that Brandi would want sympathy if she were going through what Taylor is going through, at which point Brandi calls Kyle bipolar. Adrienne backs up Kyle, while Lisa appears to take Brandi’s side, saying that the tire-slashing incident isn’t so bad. Long story short, if we ever hang out with any of these women, remind us to commute by foot.
The conversation turns to Kim, with Kyle saying that she had tried off-camera to convince Kim to sober up. Brandi tries to take credit for helping spur Kim’s rehab with that “crystal meth” comment, but Kyle makes sure to discredit that theory, pronto.
Camille says she probably came off as a bit too sex-crazed this season, but that she’s happy in her current relationship, and that she and new beau Dimitri have been together for seven months and are exclusive. And, in case you were wondering, the sex is fabulous. (You know you were wondering — admit it!)
Andy Cohen asks if she feels she’s been boring this season, to which she confesses to having hidden in the bathroom on not one but two occasions to avoid drama! She’s also made a concerted effort not to kiss random married men on the lips this season (e.g., Handsome Nick), which — at the risk of sounding like a prude — is probably a good rule.
Taylor gives more details about Russell’s alleged abuse, saying that it sadly started while she was pregnant and would happen about once every six weeks. She says she never reported the abuse because she loved him, but also because he threatened to bankrupt her and she was worried that after the allegations came to light he wouldn't be able to provide for his daughter Kennedy. She also says that she found a briefcase at the scene of Russell's death with mysterious files in it, and that she still wonders whether Russell may have been murdered. So much for ending the episode on an upbeat note.
All in all, this has been a tough reunion to watch. Surprisingly, it’s become clear that Lisa and Adrienne do not get along, along with Brandi and Taylor, even though we saw those two hanging out early on in Season 2. It was interesting that there seemed to be two teams forming towards the end, with Adrienne, Kyle, and Taylor on one side, and Brandi and Lisa (and often Camille) on the other side. We find this quite disappointing, and we really hope that the group can become one unit again. Can’t we all just get along?
So we’re looking forward to next week’s final reunion segment, and we’re still crossing our fingers that next week will end things on a positive note. Perhaps that makes us “Hopelessly Optimistic Spice”?
