Wait, have the battle rounds begun yet? As we reported yesterday, Simon Cowell went on Extra last night and took some blatant swings at The Voice.
Simon, who stars in and produces FOX's talent competition show The X Factor, responded to rumors that NBC's The Voice will be airing a second cycle in the fall — judge Christina Aguilera has allegedly already signed on to reprise her role as coach — commenting to interviewer Terri Seymour, "I think it's crazy, but if that's what they want to do, then we have to be better."
Simon went on to say, "If I'm right that The Voice are now going to compete with us in the fall, you have to rethink things even more than we were a couple of weeks ago, cause now it's a war."
Well, that's a bit dramatic.
"It's like suddenly there's this massive punch-up between all these competition shows," says Cowell. "It's getting really, really, really competitive."
Is it just us or does Simon look a little sweaty? This might be the first time we've heard him refer to himself as the "underdog," possibly a comment on The X Factor's disappointing ratings during its first season. He can't be feeling great about the possibility of going up against ratings hit The Voice, but does he have to be so mean?
Do you agree with his opinion of the celebrity judges? Which will you be watching this fall, Christina on The Voice or Simon on The X Factor?
