Valentine’s Day Magic! Glee Season 3, Episode 13’s Best and Worst Song Performances — Do You Agree?

Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts... along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 3, Episode 13: “Heart,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. Do you agree with our picks?

Best Performance of the Night: “I Will Always Love You” by Mercedes

We admit that “Love Shack” was a total blast (of course Kurt [Chris Colfer] would have his own microphone!), but it’s just too hard to ignore Mercedes (Amber Riley) mind-blowing vocal performance here. The song would have been touching on its own — even football players cry, as Shane (LaMarcus Tinker) proves — but the added context of Whitney Houston no longer being with us makes it especially hard for us not to get choked-up. Frankly, we will always love Samcedes — and Whitney, too.

Worst Performance of the Night: “Home” by Rory

It’s hard to really call this the “worst” of the night, since it wasn’t bad by any means, and we relish all the Rory (Damian McGinty) songs we can get. But Rory’s best songs (think “Bein’ Green”) allow him to exude charm and flash his winning smile, while instead this number just felt overly sappy. Plus, the emotion feels especially empty later on, when it’s revealed that he lied about going home. Not cool, Rory!

On the opposite end of things:
