The Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Is Alaric Dead After Season 3, Episode 15, “All My Children”?

The wait between Vampire Diaries episodes is usually excruciating, but now that we have four weeks until March 15 to find out if Alaric (Matt Davis) survived a shooting by his psycho girlfriend Meredith (Torrey DeVitto). The vampire hunter is scrappy, but we can’t help but be concerned that a human with a gun might be the one to do him in for good.

However, we have some reason to believe Alaric isn’t gone for good. For one, Davis promised we’d learn about the history teacher’s, um, history. We suppose he could reveal secrets from beyond the grave, but Matt was on set when Entertainment Weekly recently spoke to him about his character’s development. That’s a good sign that he wasn’t sent packing from Atlanta!

“Even when it’s uncomfortable and you’re unclear as to what’s happening with the character and where it’s going, that’s usually a precursor to something, to a big shift … it’s been interesting to experiencing those ebbs and flows.”

So what phase is Alaric in now? “I think he’s in an ebb that’s about to flow,” Davis said, teasing that we’ll see more definition to Alaric’s character. Unless he’s a ghost, we’re thinking Alaric is sticking around for awhile. Maybe Meredith is pulling some sick Misery action on her boyfriend and wants to nurse him back to health after shooting him? (Maybe we’ve been watching too many reruns of Nanny Carrie in One Tree Hill.)

So, we’re not totally clear on whether Alaric is out of the woods, but we definitely have hope that he’ll live to stake another day.
