Grey's Anatomy

What Happened to Erica on the Private Practice Cross-over Episode?

Grey's Anatomy fans were introduced to the character of Erica (A.J. Langer) on Season 8, Episode 15: "Have You Seen Me Lately?" Even viewers who aren't Private Practice fans were probably drawn in by her critical condition and the sad story of the son she'd be leaving behind.

However, Erica's story wasn't resolved in the Grey's episode. To find out what happened with her every-second-counts surgery, you had to stick around for the Private Practice half of the cross-over extravaganza. While we'd like to assume every devoted Grey's fan did just that, we realize some of you may have had other very important TV commitments. Or maybe you just wanted to go to bed.

So, for those who missed out, here's the dealio: Erica lived! Yay!

The dynamic Shepherd duo rocked the surgery, finishing in just 85 seconds. That's way less than 90.

Of course, this being Shonda-land, Erica did experience blood-clot-related complications during the surgery, but our superstar docs made sure she came out alive. She even managed to wave at Mason.

As a bonus, Charlotte also admitted that she does love Mason (duh, who wouldn't?), so the night ended on a happy note for the whole tangled up family.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC.
