So You Think You Can Dance

SYTYCD & American Idol’s Nigel Lythgoe to Bring Ukrainian Dance Show Go Dance to the US

Because two enormously successful reality shows aren’t enough, So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol executive director Nigel Lythgoe is teaming up with MY Tupelo Entertainment to produce a US adaptation of the Ukrainian hit dance show Go Dance.

Go Dance, a Star Media Production, is in its second season and is already taking Ukraine by storm. The reality show brings together some of the country’s best dance troupes to compete in Ukraine’s capital Keiv. Each week, audience members get to watch the young artists prepare for the big day and then dance their hearts out, with the hopes to reach the finals. Similar to SYTYCD, the winning troupe is decided based on a combo of judges’ scores and viewer votes.

President of MY Tupelo Entertainment Michael Yudin feels fortunate to have Nigel at the helm of the project. “We are extremely excited about this huge and exciting format that Nigel can bring to life, like only he can,” Michael says.

This is also monumental for Star Media because few Ukrainian shows have crossed over stateside. Additionally, there is talk of bringing Go Dance to Asia, European countries, and Russia...just more evidence that the power of dance is an international phenomenon!
