Who Will Play Richard Castle’s Father? Nathan Fillion Reveals His Top Picks!

As soon as we learned we might meet Castle’s dad this season, our minds were spinning. Who could possibly be awesome enough to play the man-who-made-the-man?

Obviously, he’d had to be smart and charming (he snagged the whip-smart, not to mention well-dressed Martha Rodgers, after all) and also incredibly attractive. We mean, it never hurts to have another attractive guy on set, right?

We’ve been speculating for a minute, but it might be for naught: Nathan Fillion (Castle) knows exactly who he wants to see play Papa Castle, and it’s someone he already knows very well.

“I would like to see the guy who played my uncle on my first job, my first soap opera One Life to Live, Bob Woods,” Fillion tells AOL TV. “He played my uncle Bo [Buchanan]. I'd love to see him come in and play my dad. For me, that's … personal. That man actually means something to me.”

That’s probably because Woods has been a father figure to Fillion IRL. Apparently, ‘Uncle Bo’ gave Fillion the kick in the butt he needed to pick up and move to L.A. to continue pursuing acting. And thank goodness for that!

But Woods isn’t the only man fit for the job of Daddy Castle. Fillion also suggested Chris Walken sign on to play the old man, but assumed he’s doing well enough with his own projects.

And, since Castle did have a Halloween, Ghostbusters-themed ep, Fillion also joked about tapping Bill Murray. Yep, even Fillion is determined to get a veteran ghost hunter on the show. Are you listening, Bill? Castle wants you — bad!
