Sex and the City Prequel Finds Its Young Carrie Bradshaw in AnnaSophia Robb
Meet Carrie Bradshaw — long before she turned into Sarah Jessica Parker and started writing a column about sex and love in NYC.
The CW has picked relative unknown AnnaSophia Robb, 18, from a pool of hopeful actresses — Emma Roberts and Gossip Girl starlet Blake Lively included — to play Carrie in its much-anticipated fall pilot Carrie Diaries, a prequel to Sex and the City.
AnnaSophia is best known for playing one-armed surfer Bethany Hamilton in the 2011 biopic Soul Surfer, a movie chronicling the shark attack that claimed the 13-year-old’s arm, as well as her eventual comeback. AnnaSophia also starred in the movies Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia, Race to Witch Mountain, and The Space Between. You’ll be able to see her as Wendy in 2012’s Pan.
According to Warner Bros. TV and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, Carrie Diaries will trace Carrie’s coming of age in Manhattan in the ‘80s. Sounds kinda like Gossip Girl, but with potentially disastrous throwback fashion.
We’re in, but do you think AnnaSophia makes a good Carrie? Sound off below!
