Beckett Gets a Mysterious Note in Castle Season 4, Episode 17: “Once Upon a Crime,” But What Does It Say?
It was a moment you could miss in the blink of an eye, but Castle Season 4, Episode 17: “Once Upon a Crime” contained a very peculiar happening, and we’re not talking about the dead bodies in the woods.
When Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) return to the police station after one of their always fun-filled visits to the morgue, a female officer nonchalantly hands Beckett a small piece of paper. The detective opens it up, scans it over with a quizzical eye, folds it back up, and tucks it away, all without missing a beat. In fact, the move is so unintentionally slick Castle doesn’t even notice!
Obviously, our minds fired into overdrive after that sneaky little scene. Seriously, what the heck was it about?
While the note could have been a message about the fairy-tale killer case, it’s worth nothing that Beckett didn’t share the info with Castle right away. It could have been something silly, like a way to remind Stana Katic of her next line. Or maybe it was something larger, like an insight into her mother’s case or Rick’s father’s link to the CIA?
How ironic and awesome would it be if Kate started working on her own secret investigation into Castle’s dad, while he’s still looking into her mom’s case? Hey, anything’s possible!
No matter what it was, we clearly weren’t the only ones intrigued by that tiny piece o’ paper.
One of Castle’s writers took to Twitter, writing: “You want to know what was written on that piece of paper? @Stana_Katic and I discussed telling you... But we like keeping you guessing :)”
Oh, they would. What do you think, Castle fans? Was the piece of paper connected to the case, or something else entirely?
