Just as shocking, however, was Jenna’s story of why she was there in the first place. According to her, someone pretending to be Jason texted her (she can hear her texts read aloud), and asked her to meet him at her house.
So who invited Jenna to die that night? We can think of a few suspects:
Jason:Spencer (Troian Bellisario) immediately defends her half-brother when she tells Jenna that Jason was “miles away” from his house when the fire was set, but we don’t really know that, do we? Yes, Jason was at the hospital after the fire, trying to console Spencer’s mom. But we have no idea where he was before the accident, and sometimes, Occam’s Razor points to the best answer: if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck.
Officer Garrett: At the end of the episode, we saw “A” put what looked like a police badge right at the scene of the crime. We also know that Garrett’s (Yani Gellman) car was seen speeding away from Jenna and Toby’s house earlier that day. Could he still be angry with Jenna for dumping him, and going to have her eye surgery without him? On the other hand, “A” could have just been framing him.
Melissa Hastings: Speaking of framing Garrett, we can only think of one person who would be able to steal Garrett’s badge without much complication. Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) is good friends with Garrett, and often rides in his car with him. She had easy access to the badge, and therefore could be both “A” and the person who set fire to Jason’s house.
Toby: When Toby told Hanna (Ashley Benson) something along the lines of, “You have no idea what my life is like,” early in the episode, we wondered if this means Toby isn’t completely pro-Jenna despite his brotherly assistance. It’s hard to believe that he did a 180 on his feelings toward his abusive sister in a matter of days, and, being a construction expert, he would know his way around a fire.
Who do you think invited Jenna to her own funeral?
