A Thousand Words, John Carter, Friends With Kids: Wetpaint Entertainment’s Sexy-Not Sexy Weekend Movie Guide, 3/9

Who's psyched for the weekend? Celebrate with a night at the movies! Here's the scoop on three flicks hitting theaters this Friday, March 9.

A Thousand Words

Most comedies starring Eddie Murphy are based on a somewhat silly, entirely impossible premise... and this one is no different. When fast-talking literary agent Jack McCall (Murphy) signs a deal with New Age guru Dr. Sinja (Cliff Curtis), a magical tree springs up in his backyard. Every time Jack speaks, the tree loses a leaf — until there are no more leaves and no more Jack... kinda like the rose in Beauty and the Beast. In other words, Jack's gotta learn how to get his point across without words. You know, kinda like Ariel in The Little Mermaid.
Sexy:
A man who listens
Not sexy:
A man who refuses to talk
Verdict:
Let's face it, this probably won't be the next Coming to America, but it's still Eddie and it's definitely a step up from Norbit (we hope). Make it a laid-back, low-expectations date night!

John Carter

Based on the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, this Disney sci-fi tale is about the title character (played by Taylor Kitsch), a former military captain who is transported to Mars (yes, Mars!) and finds himself in the middle of a crazy Martian conflict. Saving worlds and such ensues.
Sexy:
Taylor Kitsch and his bare chest
Not sexy:
Alien wars
Verdict:
The critics are pretty split on this action-adventure saga, but as long as Taylor goes shirtless, we give it two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Friends With Kids

When two single friends watch the rest of their circle's lives get turned upside down by the arrival of children, they decide to have a kid together and date other people. Will their experiment work, or will it backfire?
Sexy:
Adam Scott... super cute!
Not sexy:
Getting old
Verdict:
The cast also includes Bridesmaids stars Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, and Chris O'Dowd, so it's bound to be hilarious.
