Jersey Shore Season 5, Episode 10 Recap: Let the Milk Fly
This week's episode ofJersey Shore Season 5, Episode 10: "One Meatball Stands Alone" finally saw the end of The Situation's plotting and scheming against Snooki. The gang wraps up "work" at the Shore Store and are then forced to go camping.
Jionni Is The Honey Badger; He Don't Care
The episode opens up on last week's "cliffhanger" with The Situation and Snooki's future husbandJionni LaValle about to have a sit-down in the picnic table outside the house. The Situation finally tells Jionni what he's been threatening for what seems like years; that he and Snooki hooked up a month before the cast went off to film in Italy for Season 4. Jionni has no reaction and instead goes up to bed to laugh about it with Snooki, and claims he doesn't believe it.
Mike talking heads to the camera that Jionni must not care about Snooki. Unfortunately, Ronnie has the situation most accurately pegged: Jionni doesn't care because he is probably hooking up with other girls, and not staying home six nights a week like he claims. The classy Situation tops off the conversation with an adorable sexist joke about Snooki but it's hard to take Jionni's non-reaction. What guy would just hear that rumor and not even blink twice?
Snooki on the other hand, does show a reaction and ends up throwing pickles at Mike after she tells him she wants him to go "rot in a hole." Pickles was something they happened to have readily available in their kitchen for moments like these.
This being the next to last episode of the season, I can imagine the cast is dying to get out of Seaside Heights and back to their normal schedule of making thousands of dollars for club appearances. Since they've already exhausted the Karma and "DTF" possibilities, while at family dinner, Snooki makes the bizarre suggestion that the cast go camping. Because this crew is totes outdoorsy, right? Sunday dinner turns into a food fight, which unfortunately, just makes Snooki look like she's guilty and pissed about Mike outing their hookup.
Pauly D and Vinny, the star-crossed nonsexual lovers, stay home from camping and decide to pull a prank on the camping housemates with Shore Store boss Danny and move all the furniture out onto the house's deck. Is their only prank moving furniture? I swear we saw this last week with the smush room.
Stick A Fork In It; This Show Is Done
It was hard to watch this episode (and reality television in general) knowing the true outcome. Snooki and Jionni not only make it after Mike's revelation, but Snooki is pregnant and engaged with a major magazine cover to boot. A conversation the girls have while camping is especially telling about the future of this show. Deena tells Snooki and Jenni they've changed since getting boyfriends and she misses the way things used to be. It looks like a set-up for the spin-off we know that the girls have already started filming in Jersey City. Pauly and Vinny's antics against the boring, coupled folk in the house are also a good way to ease us into seeing Pauly on his own, like he'll be in his upcoming spin-off The Pauly D Project.
Can this show survive without it's pint-sized heart, Snooki? Deena Nicole has certainly tried to be the new Snooki, but is failing miserably. Another alternative is for the show to go back to its old standby: focusing on Sammi and Ronnie's terrible relationship. Who will actually want to watch without Snooki is anyone's guess. For now, we have one more week of our macaroni rascals. I already miss them.
