Our hearts are still breaking for Eric "Nordic God" Northman. We'll never forget the tragic way he stood there as Sookie rejected him during the season 4 finale of True Blood.
So, what does the future hold for our Swedish meatball?
True Blood loosely follows The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris, so naturally we delved fang-first into the books to find out what our first truebie love gets up to in the future.
Check out three things that happen to Eric on paper that we'd love to see in True Blood — and warning, potential spoilers lie ahead!
1. He Gets Back Together With Sookie
After Sookie exchanges blood with Eric more times than healthy, she realizes that he has a huge amount of control over her — and the power to turn her into a vampire whenever he pleases. The Sookster also realizes that her bond with Eric is greater than ever: She can tap into his feelings, knows where he is at all times, and is pretty much crazy-obsessed with him.
Luckily, Sookie gets her head in the game, breaks up with her were-tiger boyfriend (rewind!), and gets back together with Eric. Let's just hope she hires a cleaning lady, because otherwise her kitchen just won't be sanitary.
2. He Makes Sookie His Vampire Bride
After months of hating each other and a few weeks of moonlit lovemaking, Sookie and Eric put a ring on it. Sure, their wedding isn't exactly Bella and Edward beautiful, but not all vampire brides get to marry men coated in glitter, mmmk?
Here's what goes down: The King of Nevada threatens to steal Sookie, so Eric tricks her into marrying him in order to ensure her safety. Of course, she's less than thrilled, but it's just a vampire marriage — meaning she could still get married to a human in a Louisiana court.
3. He Reunites With His Brother
So, it turns out Eric has a brother, and he's a Romanov. You know, like Anastasia. We'll give you a minute to process ....
In the books, Eric's bro is the one and only OG Alexei Romanov, the heir to the Russian throne who was supposedly killed during the Bolshevik Revolution. Alexei witnessed his family's murder at the hands of the rebels, and as you might expect he's an emotional wreck because of it. Eric's charged with babysitting Alexei during book ten, and if you're thinking this is the bes True Blood plotline of all time, you'd be right.
