Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Tamra Barney Addresses Why She Invited Slade Smiley to Her Bunco Party

A lot of questions were raised on Tuesday’s jam-packed Real Housewives of Orange County episode, but the biggest question on everyone’s mind was: Who invited Slade Smiley to the party?

Housewife and party hostess Tamra Barney took to her Bravo blog to clear up some issues about the Bunco party, including addressing why Slade — who performed a comedy act the prior episode in which he compared Tamra to the Michelin Man and Vicki to Miss Piggy — was gifted an invite. Tamra explains the invites were handed out before she heard about the improv, adding that she “wasn’t even sure” Slade would have the gall to show his face after what he did. (Clearly, she does not know Slade Smiley.)

But that wasn’t all. The other Housewives (and many viewers) have accused Tamra of defending her former enemies Slade and Gretchen when Slade’s comedy act is brought up at the party. Orange County’s tiniest starlet says she was hardly defending them, and in fact she still thinks her other pint-sized pal might have known what was in Slade’s routine.

“I'm not 100 percent convinced that [Gretchen] did not know he was going to use us in his act, after all me and Vicki were not invited for a reason,” Tamra writes, but adds that the event “has not impacted [their] friendship in the long run.”

While Tamra and Slade will never be besties, she says she plans to “kill him with kindness” from now on, even though it’s not always easy. “Being the bigger person is sometimes much harder,” she writes.

Still, it sounds like taking the high road is paying off, as least when it comes to keeping her friendship with Gretchen: Tamra says she and Slade are in a much better place now, and Gretchen is her “really good friend.” Sadly, we don’t think we can say the same for Vicki. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves!
