Megan Park is one busy girl. Not only is she filming the fifth season of The Secret Life of an American Teenager, but soon you won’t be able to turn on the TV or go to a movie theater without seeing the bubbly blonde.
In March alone, Megan can be seen in Secret Life, which is returning to ABC Family with brand-new episodes on the 26th, and her new movie So Undercover, costarring Miley Cyrus and Revenge’s Joshua Bowman, premiering this Friday, the 16th.
“It's an awesome teen movie,” Megan tells Wetpaint Entertainment about the comedy. “It's about these girls in a sorority, and I play a character named Cotton, who's just a really, really sweet, but really, really dumb sorority girl who's always messing things up for people.”
Though the cast had a blast shooting the movie in New Orleans, Megan tells us she felt bad for Josh Bowman in the midst of all the girls.
“Poor Josh was the only guy there the whole time,” she tells us. “It was all girls. The extras were girls. And they sent us to this sorority boot camp with a real sorority up in Baton Rouge. So it was literally girl talk 24/7, and poor Josh comes in, and he’s just like sitting in the corner with a bunch of girls yapping non-stop. But he was a good sport about it.”
And when she’s not on-set, Megan’s flexing her writing muscles on a comedy project that involves Cinderella: Once Upon a Song costar Missi Pyle.
“She's a really gifted comedic writer, and while we were working, she was like, ‘We should write something together,’’” says Megan.
“We've written this screenplay, and it's been really amazing for both of us. Our brains for whatever reason just work really well together when we write, and we really hope to get the movie made.”
Their movie, says Megan, is a raunchy female comedy about a young person in Hollywood, and a very funny take on that crazy world.
“It's one of the best projects I've ever been a part of even though nobody's seen it yet other than Missi and I,” she says. “It's been amazing.”
And to top off an already impressive workload, Megan recently guest starred on Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming HBO show, The Newsroom, which is expected to premiere this summer on HBO. Megan plays a politically incorrect ex pageant queen who guests on Jeff Daniel’s roundtable news show.
“It was just one episode, but working on that show for five seconds, I learned a lot,” she gushes. “You really don't want to mess anything up because he is such an incredible writer.”
“I went to the table read and [Aaron Sorkin] stood up and said, ‘I really want everybody to try as hard as they can to be dialogue specific,’” she recalls. “He's known for his dialogue, and I really tried to take that to heart. It was such an amazing honor. “
