Shonda Rhimes Promises Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 Finale Will Be Bigger, Louder Than Last Year

Most loyal Grey’s Anatomy fans will recall that the Season 7 finale (Season 7, Episode 22: “Unaccompanied Minor”) was pretty shock-free. But show creator Shonda Rhimes is guaranteeing that no such peace and gentle drama will be found in the Season 8 finale.

Not only is there much more on the line this year (with the six original cast members’ contracts up after Season 8), but Shonda knows how much hype will surround what may be MerDer’s last Grey’s episode of all time.

"Last season, we probably had the quietest finale we've ever had in terms of our characters," Shonda told TVGuide. "And I loved everything about it. But this season it's going to be very different from that."

So don’t expect any long, sobbing scenes involving Zola. It looks like we’re in store for some action!

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
