Marc Malkin at E! Online reports that Darren was offered the hosting spot after The X Factorsacked their Season 1 host, Steve Jones, earlier this year. Had he accepted the gig, Darren could have spent two nights a week supporting contestants backstage before their auditions... and facing off against Simon Cowell and his signature snarky wit.
Could that have been fun to watch? Sure. But we’re still not convinced if hitching his career to a young show would the best fit for Darren. In any case, someone at The X Factor seemed to think so!
"They were after him," a show insider tells E. "But there's no way he could have done it with everything he has going on."
Between Glee, new movies, his spokesman gigs, and that ever-present potential for Broadway return, Darren’s plate does appear to be pretty full already. Maybe the X Factor could give one of his Glee co-stars a shot *cough* Naya Rivera *cough*?
