Pretty Little Liars’ Marlene King Says Season 3 Will Be ”A Brand New Mystery” – Exclusive
Pretty Little Liars’ Season 2 finale is just a few days away, but we’re already starting to think about Season 3. Since we know that “A” will be revealed in the finale (Season 2, Episode 25: “UnmAsked”), is it safe to say that the next season of the show will be “A”-free? Or will a new “A” take over, as we’ve previously suspected?
Wetpaint Entertainment spoke to showrunner Marlene King in an exclusive interview about the next season and what it means for “A.”
Wetpaint Entertainment: Is it safe to say that there are elements of this season that will go on into Season 3?
Marlene: I think it's safe to say that, for myself, when I watch the finale, which I've seen now at least 20 times, I'm emotionally exhausted every time it's over. When we showed the episode to our composer, he was like, “Oh my God.” I'm exhausted. And he was so excited to go write the music for this. It's like just when you think it's over, it's not over. And then it's not over again.
How would you tease Season 3?
Season 3 is going to be — you know, it's Pretty Little Liars. We know our world, and we know our girls. But revealing who “A” is has sort of given us a chance to sort of hit the reset button. The first episode of Season 3 feels a lot like the pilot, and it's really fun to sort of reinvent this world and reinvent these mysteries and sort of give ourselves a shot of adrenaline for Season 3.
Is it still the same mystery, just different elements of it?
No. You will find out, there is a huge new mystery uncovered in the finale.
Like relevant to “A”?
Not relevant to — when it's revealed in the finale, it's a brand new mystery.
I can't wait for season three. I'm so curious.
Oh, good. It's going to be fun. We had just like the best time breaking those stories. If we are happy and excited, then I think it usually translates to the viewers being happy too.
