Pretty Little Liars Finale: Marlene King Says NAT Club Will Play Major Role

Considering all the excitement surround the Pretty Little Liars Season 2 finale tonight (March 19), we almost forgot about one big clue that showrunner Marlene King dropped during an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment: don’t underestimate the NAT club.

When we asked Marlene about the “bad guys, Jenna (Tammin Sursok), Melissa (Torrey DeVitto), that crew,” she told us, “The NAT club that we refer to as anybody who was in Alison’s [Sasha Pieterse] room the night she was murdered. And the NAT club stays very much a presence in the show. We haven't heard the last of them.”

What is Marlene insinuating?

For one thing, we always thought of the official NAT club as the older group of guys who listed it as one of their extracurriculars in their Rosewood High yearbooks: Jason (Drew Van Acker), Garrett (Yani Gellman), and Ian (Ryan Merriman). Of course, Jenna was also in Ali’s room on the night of her murder, as was Melissa. We’re wondering if the girls were only there because their boyfriends were, though.

We know that Spencer (Troian Bellisario) discovered the meaning of the Latin anagram as We See All. And we know that Jason and his “friends” were making a movie in the months leading up to Ali’s death (Season 2, Episode 13:”The First Secret”). Jason couldn’t tell Ali what it was about because, he said, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.” Ian was always playing around with his video camera. And Ian went into Ali’s room on the night of the murder to plant a video camera

Something just as important as Ian’s motive in that room (to get Jason back for something) was Garrett and Jenna’s motive: to get “those tapes” back from Ali.

If Marlene is saying that the NAT club will still be “very much a presence,” will we finally learn what was on those tapes? And how the entire NAT club is connected to “A”?

We’ll have to wait just a few more hours to find out!

Find out who “A” is on the Pretty Little Liars Season 2 finale at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
