We’re still waiting for an official confirmation for Gossip Girl Season 6, and even though it’s not one of The CW’s shows on the bubble, we won’t rest easy until we get it. In the meantime, we have no choice but to obsess over the tidbits we do know about the potential for an upcoming season.
With network execs already making their Fall 2012 TV lineups, sources claim The CW definitely wants more of our favorite Upper East Siders. (As they well should!) The show doesn’t have the viewership that it once did, but us loyal fan girls are still have faith. Fortunately, their writers do too. They’re currently writing the fifth season as though there will be a sixth season. (Chair fans, there’s still time for you to get your happy ending!)
Show insiders have confirmed there will most likely be a sixth season, but that it will be shorter than the usual 22-episode network order (The CW is rumored to be mulling a 13-episode season). Additionally, the source says, Season 6 will very likely be the last. As Blake Lively (Serena) told Elle, most of the cast is ready for new challenges. With their six-year contracts due to expire, Blake said, “We're at this point now where it's the homestretch, and for the first time, we feel the end.”
Alas, all good thing must come to the end. But let’s get a sixth season first, shall we?
