Kim Kardashian Talks Decision to Divorce and “Brutal” Media Response
What does a millionairess do after a high-profile divorce? She hightails it straight back to her mom’s house — with nothing but Uggs and sweatpants in tow.
In a new interview with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show, Kim Kardashian revealed that she did her best to drop off the grid after her high-profile split from Kris Humphries. "It was really hard to go through,” Kim spilled. “It's probably the toughest thing I've ever had to go through, but I had my family there, and they really helped me get through that."
Even though she thought ending their marriage was “the right decision,” there was a firestorm of criticism and a “brutal” media frenzy. The brunette beauty defended her divorce to Jay, explaining that it was something she had to do once she realized that Kris wasn’t the one for her, even though it had only been 72 days. “I wanted to be fair to me, but I also wanted to be fair to someone else,” she reasoned.
When the host brought up her family’s early reservations (read: Khloe’s), she dished that no one could have changed her mind back then. "I'm a person where when I'm in love, you can't tell me anything,” said Kim. “So, I did what I did believed in doing."
Now, Kim is grateful for the hard “lessons” it taught her. She revealed that she’s “changed for the better,” and the experience has made her rethink her priorities.
Here’s hoping that she’s luckier in love in the future!
