Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Party Etiquette From Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Lisa Vanderpump

It feels like Real Housewives of Beverly HillsLisa Vanderpump always knows the right thing to do (maybe it’s the sophisticated British accent), but now it’s a fact! The 51-year-old restaurateur released her first (very pink) book Simply Divine: A Guide to Easy, Elegant and Affordable Entertaining in November 2011, and this week Food and Wine put together a list of the best pieces of advice from the sassy brunette’s book. About what, you ask? Party etiquette, of course! Let’s just say, if anybody knows how (and how not) to party, it’s the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!

From what to do when a man puts his hand on your leg under the table (does that happen?) to how to respond if a graceless guest smashes a family heirloom, this longtime hostess knows exactly “how to behave”! Check out a few of Lisa’s tried-and-true party tips below. Dare we say a few of other Housewives could benefit from a little looksie?

What Would Lisa Do if...

A guest gives a horrible gift: “No matter what it is, tell them how very much you love it. Even if it secretly hurts your feelings, as in a joke gone wrong, don’t let on.” (Hm.

An inebriated guest spills their cocktail: “Even if you want to strangle them — which, trust me, I’ve wanted to do — tell them it’s no big deal. Just blot it up, cover it with a clean napkin and deal with it the next day.”

Someone just. won’t. leave: “An 'Oh dear, everyone else has left,' or 'You must be exhausted' should do the trick."
