Maroon 5 to Release New Pop-Inspired Album This June

Maroon 5’s song “Moves Like Jagger” inspired swinging hips and sexual tension rumors across the country. Apparently, it also inspired the focus behind their upcoming album — Overexposed.

According to Rolling Stone, The Voice Season 2 coach and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine thinks this album will be "one of our most diverse and poppiest albums yet.” And while some bands may consider this change in direction to be “selling out,” Maroon 5 seems to be embracing the pop genre.

"'Moves Like Jagger' was the first time we ever worked with an outside writer, so we decided to try it some more on this record," guitarist James Valentine said.

"At this point in our career I think it was a good thing to completely mix up our process and it yielded good results, as well as a more collaborative spirit within the band. We wanted to make something that sounded contemporary with the elements of a lot of early eras of pop music. This is our most 'pop' record ever and we weren’t shy about really going for it."

The album is said to include a performance by rapper Wiz Khalifa, but there’s no confirmation yet on a potential collaboration between Adam Levine and Justin Bieber.

Overexposed will be released on June 26, 2012.
