Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas: “I Let Producers Guide My Heart” — Exclusive
DeAnna Pappas is making her triumphant return to the small screen next week, starring as herself on FEARnet’s Holliston, which premieres April 3, 2012. The former Bachelorette spoke exclusively with Wetpaint Entertainment about her exciting new role, her fairytale marriage to Stephen Stagliano, and whether she would ever do Bachelor Pad 3.
DeAnna’s first foray into scripted television ironically came (indirectly) by way of The Bachelor. Corri English, the hilarious star of Holliston, is one of DeAnna’s good friends — so good, in fact, that they spent every Monday during Ben Flajnik’s Bachelor reign watching the show together. One day, Corri suggested DeAnna guest star on the show, and — ta da! — the rest is FEARnet history. DeAnna finds it endlessly entertaining Corri, herself a veteran actress, and some of their other famous-ish Hollywood friends are all obsessed with The Bachelor. “We laugh because they love the show, and are always asking questions,” DeAnna giggles.
So, would DeAnna ever jump back into reality television? (*cough* Bachelor Pad 3). Most likely not, she says. “I don’t know if I could leave Stephen,” for filming, DeAnna explains, adding, “My life is so different, I’m married, and I have my family.” Besides, DeAnna’s experience on The Bachelorette didn’t really warm her to the reality of filming your love life. “I let producers guide my heart,” DeAnna spills. “I only wanted Graham Bunn, and after he left the show, I felt pressured to pick someone whose name we won’t mention.” The whirlwind filming schedule, from first date to engagement, happens unrealistically quickly, DeAnna says. “In real life, you don’t find someone in six weeks.”
Today, DeAnna is happily married to Stephen Stagliano, twin brother to Bachelor Pad fan favorite Michael Stagliano. DeAnna’s tone instantly turns giddy when asked about Stephen. “We honestly believe our relationship is meant to be, as sappy as that sounds. He’s everything I’ve always wanted, he’s a Christian leader in our family, and he loves me unconditionally.” DeAnna and Stephen married last summerin her home state of Georgia, but now live in Los Angeles and are currently at odds about how many children to have. “Stephen wants two, but I want three,” DeAnna explains, laughing, adding that they’re not ready for kids quite yet, but almost. “When we’re ready, we’ll let everyone know!”
As for whether we’ll be seeing her beloved brother-in-law doling out roses as the Bachelor anytime soon, DeAnna dismisses the idea. “I’m not sure if Michael’s open to that.”
