Eliminated Voice Contestant Hailey Steele of The LiNE’s Ice-Cold Exit: Justified or out of “Line”?
Losing is tough, but sometimes it’s worse to be a bad sport.
In last night’s episode of The Voice Season 2 Battle Round 4, country duo The LiNE went up against MC Moses Stone for the final Team Christina battle. The performers sang The Rolling Stones' “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” — a song outside both of their genres.
Though the battle was strange and a close call, Xtina ultimately went with Moses because of his versatility as a performer. This didn’t sit well with Hailey Steele of The LiNE. As Hailey’s LiNE partner, Leland Grant, clapped for Moses, she stood still with the same sour look that had been on her face since the beginning of the episode. She then stormed off the stage with Leeland and refused to talk to the cameras.
We’re pretty sure contractual obligations required her to sit down with Leeland and Moses for her official “Exit Interview” with Christina Milian, because she can’t seem to crack a smile.
“I just don’t like to lose,” Hailey said in the interview. “We left it all out there on the stage so I can’t be anything but happy about our performance. I’m just upset with the decision.”
She made this comment sitting right next to the battle’s winner, Moses!
But Moses didn’t even blink and went on to compliment The LiNE for stepping outside their comfort zones. His relentless puns with their band name (“I plan on working with you guys later down the line”) and his cheery demeanor didn’t seem to have much of an effect on Hailey’s stormy personality.
It wasn’t until the end of the interview when Moses told Hailey that he loved her, she could be his girlfriend, and Leeland could be their wedding singer that the country crooner finally smiled.
We haven’t seen this icy attitude on-air from any contestant thus far.
