Bianca Lawson Was Bullied as a Kid, Had Guns Pulled on Her
Pretty Little Liars, with its super-genius stalker bullying a group of teen girls, isn't exactly grounded in realism, but that doesn't mean real life bullying isn't a big problem. Recently PLL star Bianca Lawson (Maya St. Germain) opened up to Us Weekly about her own troubled history with bullying while at the premiere of the new documentary, Bully.
Bianca said she was a "loner" when she was young, and suffered at the hands of cruel peers.
"I've had guns pulled on me. Large sharp things thrown at me. Really bad things," she explained. "[Bullying] is sad and it takes a while to get over."
Fortunately, Bianca had supportive parents who boosted her self confidence and stood with her when she went to her principal for help. "They really empathized and validated my feelings," Bianca said.
Bianca hopes Bully will help spread awareness of how destructive and painful bullying can be. "[Adults] think, 'they're handling it,' or 'it's kids being kids,' not realizing that it's destroying them."
We're sad that Bianca had such a hard time, but we hope her success can be an inspiration to others.
