Blaine’s Brother Speaks: Matt Bomer Talks Glee, Darren Criss, and Cooper’s Surprising Kiss!

On Glee, Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) seems like one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. His older brother, Cooper? Not so much!

TV Line sat down with White Collar star Matt Bomer, the man behind Glee’s newest guest star, to get the inside scoop on what to expect for his big appearance on April 10’s Season 3, Episode 15: "Big Brother."

The site describes Matt’s character as “the ultimate tool” — a local commercial actor thinks just a bit too highly of himself and his skills. That’s not to say he isn’t ridiculously good looking! In fact, at one point, Kurt (Chris Colfer) even refers to Cooper as the most good-looking guy in North America.

Careful, Kurt. We wouldn’t want your boyfriend to get jealous!

Yet for as cocky as Cooper might be, Matt thinks that much of the character is rooted in insecurity. “At the end of the day, Cooper is just desperate for validation. For him, hearing something like that is just the best news ever.”

He continues, ”I think he comes back to town under the ruse that he’s doing all of this gritty work for the next commercial campaign. But I think he also needs to get back in touch with his roots and reality because he’s having a tough go of it. But then once he realizes that he’s kind of a hometown hero, the hubris kicks in and his ego expands exponentially.”

At the end of the day, though, Kurt is NOT the lucky Lima resident who ends up swapping spit with Cooper. That honor goes to none other than Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch)!

Matt, who characterized the kiss as “fantastic,” says, “I think Jane sussed out right away that my character was just all over the map, just a complete hot mess. And so she knew that whatever greeting they had together would be completely inappropriate. So she said, Matt, on this take, just kiss me on the lips. I said, Great. You don’t have to ask me twice.”

Plus, it’s not like either of their significant others would get jealous about that kiss.

Finally, Matt couldn’t stop talking about how much he enjoyed working with his on-screen little bro! “I had an incredible time working with Darren. He was completely professional and fun and came to play. We had a lot of laughs between takes.”

On top of that “Anytime you’re playing someone’s sibling you want to get to know that person and [...] we were able to develop a friendship and get an idea of what it would be like to actually be brothers.”

Plus, have you seen how much these two actually look alike? The resemblance is almost uncanny!
