The Pauly D Project: Good Fun or Spin-Off Flop? You Tell Us
Last night we were introduced to the first Jersey Shore spin-off,The Pauly D Project, which has been getting hyped up by MTV for the past few weeks. But did it live up to your expectations?
The show follows around Pauly D as he and his entourage embark on a DJ-in-Residence gig for the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. (Yes, the same hotel owned by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof and featured in Real World: Las Vegas.) We also get a glimpse of Pauly’s life outside of Seaside, where the groupies are still plentiful, the paparazzi are following him around, and he still lives with his dad. Basically, MTV is finally allowed to acknowledge that this guy is famous and has a career outside of ironing catchphrases onto booty shorts at The Shore Store.
Personally, we like the show and see potential for it to grow into something bigger. There’s the possibility of a conflict between Ryan (Pauly’s manager) and the other boys and also some good romance tension between Biggie and his shockingly hot girlfriend, MJ. Our only complaint is that the show is too short. We are used to the 1-hour format of Jersey Shore and Pauly’s new 30-minute format doesn’t give us enough time to connect with these new characters.
