Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: Ellen Pompeo Dishes On Meredith’s “Huge Obstacle” With the Boards – Exclusive

This Thursday Grey's Anatomy returns with a new episode and have we got some scoop for you for the remainder of the season. Wetpaint Entertainment got a chance to chat with Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) at the “Welcome to Shondaland” panel put on by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences earlier this week, and she shared with us a major plot development. If you don’t want to be spoiled – avert your eyes now.

“Meredith has a huge obstacle in the middle of taking her boards which impedes greatly on her taking the boards – huge crisis!” Ellen reveals. “She has to take the boards through this crisis. It’s really distracting and gets in the way.”

For those who have been reading recent spoilers, Ellen is of course referring to a rather inconvenient incident that may stand in the way of her passing the boards and moving along in her medical career. But would Shonda Rhimes let Meredith fail? Doubtful. Which begs the question: Who arrives late to the boards and risks not passing? For that you’ll have to tune in.

With Meredith and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) overcoming all kinds of obstacles to become a happy little family with baby Zola, we couldn’t help but ask if anything is going to rattle the couple before the end of this season?

“It’s not rattling in this episode,” she tells us, but admits the series finale is still being written. “I don’t know what’s going to happen in the last two [episodes] – but knowing Shonda, a lot!”

Grey’s Anatomy returns with an all-new episode on Thursday, April 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
