Voulez-Vouz le GTL? MTV to Cast French Version of Jersey Shore

With so many Jersey Shore copycats out there — among them, Ireland’s Tallafornia, Brooklyn 11223, and what some call the Persian Jersey Shore, Shahs of Sunset — it’s about time that MTV officially expanded the franchise on their own. Following the success of their UK version, Geordie Shore, MTV will now expand to create a Jersey Shore for France.

“Subcultures exist everywhere, even in France and the French can certainly party with the rest of them,” says MTV’s SVP of International Program Sales, Caroline Beaton. “It’s escapism. It’s celebratory. People can live vicariously through these characters. It’s a paid vacation to hang out at the beach all summer, who wouldn’t want to do that?” added another MTV exec.

The plan is to air the original Jersey Shore — with our amazing eight guidos and guidettes — and find the “subculture” equivalent in France.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, we’re going to celebrate by imagining the likes of Snooki and The Situation dubbed with French accents. Est-ce que tu DTF?
