Kevin Bacon Finds Out He Married His Cousin on “Finding Your Roots”
“Was I a princess or a serf?” Barbara Walters asks Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., the host of PBS’s 10-part Finding Your Roots series. The show uses paper trails and DNA to trace celebrities’ lineages generations back. Samuel L. Jackson., Robert Downey, Jr., and other famous faces all appear on the program to learn who their ancestors were.
In an upcoming episode, celeb couple Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon separately research their family histories; “My biggest fear is that we’re cousins,” laughs Kyra in a promo for the show. According to Zap2It, Kyra’s nightmare is about to come true. “They are indeed distant cousins. So talk about six degrees of separation, right?" says Gates. Hopefully that’s six degrees once or twice removed. The pair’s un-pruned family tree also includes two children, Travis, 22, and Sosie, 19.
Kevin and Kyra’s episode of Finding Your Roots airs Sunday, April 8 on PBS, and you can find out the answer to Barbara Walters’s question and why Harry Connick, Jr.’s relative rivaled Jack Sparrow in the full episodes at PBS.
