Who Is Sarah Winchester, Real Housewives of Orange County’s New Addition?
In Season 7, Episode 9 of Real Housewives of Orange County, Friend of the Housewives Sarah Winchester returns — and things get a little intense between her and Vicki Gunvalson. Who is this brunette infiltrating the OC bloundetourage?
According to her Bravo bio, Ms. Winchester is well-versed in Housewife culture, since she’s a longtime pal of Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino. And brown tresses aside, the sassy newbie seems like she’ll fit right in: she’s filthy rich and addicted to drama.
In fact, before ever cropping up on the hit Bravo show, Sarah — heiress to the Winchester Rifle fortune — was already making headlines. Back in February, a handful of sources reported that Sarah was hooking up with the son of former OC Housewife Jeana Keough. Way to keep it in the (Bravo) family!
If you’re wondering what happened to Kurt — Sarah’s fiancé who didn’t buy her a big enough engagement ring (according to Heather Dubrow) — it sounds like the two split. The Daily Mail claims Sarah had a relationship with a very wealthy 60-year-old man before landing her spot on RHoOC. In an interview with Cinderella's Glass Closet, Sarah refuted those claims, saying, “Iwas dating a man named Kurt for over 5 years. Kurt is my ex-fiancé, and you will see him on the show with me. In fact, Kurt is the one who suggested I quit working at one point so that we had more time to travel.”
Sarah added that she’s not just an heiress and has worked since she was 15 years old: “I started at McDonalds, and then went on to a law firm, and next a mortgage company. I want to send a message that it is important to work for what you have, and I have done exactly that. I love what I do and am supporting myself financially. I am not solely living off of my family’s money, and I do not live off rich men either.”
The drama follows her on-screen. Sarah’s bio reveals she bumps heads with not only Vicki but the season’s other newbie, Heather “Fancy Pants” Dubrow. Maybe their antagonism comes from the fact that Sarah felt different from a lot of the OC ladies.
“I was raised in a small farm town and rode horses growing up. Shopping wasn't glamorized there nearly as much as it is in the O.C. ... My love was for animals, horses, pigs, and cows, and animals really didn't really care too much about that kind of stuff,” she writes in her Bravo blog.
She told Cinderella’s Glass Closet that her friends would describe her as “kind-hearted and sweet.” To that, we would add, she loves animals.
