Secret Life of the American Teenager

Secret Life of the American Teenager Recap of Season 4, Episode 16: “They Gotta Eat”

In the mood for angsty teenage drama? Pick up some raw meat, gnaw on a T-bone and chillax, because this week, The Secret Life of the American Teenager is serving up a big plate of dramz and we're eating it up!

Family Bonding

It's that time of the month again, ladies: When your parents want to bond with you over an awkward family dinner. After the school principal sends out a letter urging families to eat together,

Ricky ditches Amy and decides to share a massive brisket with Nora. Sigh, we're just happy he chose to cook it instead of eating it raw.

Nora gets the convo going by recounting that one time she turned family dinner into a blazed-up knife throwing contest (memories!), and then she and Ricky have a beautiful bonding session about addiction — you know, the usual.

Next up, our girl Grace. Last time we check in on this pom-pom twirling cookie addict, she had gotten herself kicked out of med camp and was secretly shacked up at Adrian's apartment.

As we all know, Grace is a good girl (with a naughty side) and she's consumed with guilt over lying to her mom.

After some introspection and a hunk of lasagna courtesy of Jack, Grace chats with her mom in Africa and comes clean about her new digs — but she's in for the shock of her life!

Kathleen tells Grace that her father had a secret African girlfriend (jaw-drop!), but she doesn't mention that he also had an illegitimate love-child who might move back to Cali and live with them!

Royal Blackmail

Leo's vdetermined to wipe out Ben's reputation as a pot-smoking hippie with teddy bear issues, and after a consultation with Lauren's therapist pops, he decides to invite Dylan and her parents over for cocktails.

Leo sits in his throne and gives Dylan's renties a detailed account of Ben's sexual history (of course), and then offers to give Dylan a second chance — especially when she admits to smoking pot.

Good thing too, because Ben's determined to see Dylan no matter what, even if it means losing his inheritance. Sigh, we've been down this road before, and it was a sausagey waste land.

Thank god Ben has Ricky and his words of wisdom to get him through the rough times, but who will Leo turn to? It looks like someone is blackmailing The Sausage King about his affair with Camille — and we have our eye on Betty. She might be blonde and vaguely inarticulate, but this former prostitute is no dummy.

In less meat-filled news, Adrian heads over to her parents house to tell them about Omar, and her dad promptly grills her about whether or not they've had sex.

Uhm, is that a rhetorical question? It's like this guy has never even met Adrian!

Family Feud

Lauren's still pissed with Madison for sleeping with her cockatoo-loving boyfriend, and Amy is steadfast in her commitment to have Lauren's back. Luckily, it looks like there's a light at the end of this frenemy tunnel, because Mads and Lauren's parents are determined to rectify the situation.

Lauren and Mads' pops team up with Secret Life's resident guru, George Juergens, and together they force Amy, Lauren and Madison to have the most uncomfortable family dinner ever.

So, what's on the menu? You guessed it, awkward convos about sex and massive amounts of jazzy piano notes. Will Amy and Lauren ever forgive poor Mads?

Meanwhile, things aren't going well between Amy and Ricky, and she won't agree to hang with his foster parents. Call us crazy, but it seems like this gal has been in a terrible mood lately. Could she be pregnant?!
