Dancing With the Stars Season 14 Injury Roundup: Who Has Been Hurt So Far?

Everyone gets hurt on Dancing With the Stars. It’s normal to feel a little pain on the path to success. As Season 14’s Gladys Knight told On the Red Carpet, "I've had sore feet, I've had sore hip, I've had sore back, I've had it all, but you have to be aggressive about taking care of yourself."

Some DWTS injuries take stars out of commission, some are talked about on the show, some are shown behind the scenes and some are never spoken of at all. Here is a roundup of the more prominent injuries so far on Season 14.

Maria Menounos
Maria suffered "two broken ribs" after she fell on pro partner Derek Hough's knee during rehearsal for their premiere night dance. "It happened about a week before the Cha Cha," Derek told Us Weekly. Her rib injury didn’t stop her from wrestling at WWE’s Wrestlemania 28 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami recently.

On Week 4's Performance show, it was revealed that Maria also has stress fractures in her feet. "I don't want people to think that every week I'm busted," she told E! after the Rock Week show. "All [the injuries] happened within the first week and a half. Everything just hit me like a ton of bricks. I wasn't prepared and it just happened. I didn't have an official diagnosis until recently because I was like, 'My feet hurt really bad,' but I have a high tolerance for pain and then I finally got the diagnosis, so now we really gotta watch out."

Melissa Gilbert
During their Rock Week Paso Doble, Melissa and Maks attempted a tricky dance move that went wrong and sent Melissa to the hospital after the show. As Melissa tweeted late Monday night, "I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of." She also thanked her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and fellow competitor, Gavin DeGraw: “@MaksimC you are my champion. I adore you. @GavinDeGraw bless your heart for carrying me down those stairs!”

Sherri Shepherd, who dances with Maks’ brother, Val Chmerkovskiy, told E! of the injury, "It's not her back. Melissa was doing a trick at the end and she hit her head so she put an ice pack on there, but they wanted to make sure everything was OK and check her out. It shows you people are so committed to doing this show and doing the dance that they're pushing through so many things."

Maksim Chmerkovskiy
It wasn’t only Melissa that was hurt during Rock Week. Maks’ brother Val told People that Maks “hurt his elbow during rehearsal doing one of the tricks.” Then Maks slipped during his Paso performance with Melissa. “And now he pulled his groin." Rock Week is cursed!

Donald Driver
This isn’t much of an injury, but since a photo was captured, it makes the list. The NFL star was seen wearing a cast around his finger outside the rehearsal studio over Easter weekend. Whatever happened to his finger, it sure as heck didn’t stop him from having the best dance of Week 4!

Find out who is getting sent home on Dancing With the Stars tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
