5 Things You Need to Know About The Voice’s Jamar Rogers

In just short two weeks, we have gone from 24 contestants to 12 on The Voice. It will only get harder as the weeks go on, but for right now, everyone’s buzzing about this season’s front-runners.

One special singer we’ve noticed is Team Cee Lo’s Jamar Rogers, the 29-year-old volunteer from the Bronx. Want to know more? Read on!

1. He has an incredible sound

Jamar owns every song he sings. His energy and stage presence combined with his killer vocals make him one of this season’s top competitors. And Jamar’s humble appreciation for his current position makes him one of our favorites!

2. He auditioned for American Idol

Back in Season 8, Jamar auditioned and made it to Hollywood Week on American Idol. His close friend Danny Gokey went on to be the third runner up that year, but now it’s Jamar’s time to shine!

3. He is HIV positive and overcame drug addiction

Jamar has never hesitated to be open about his struggles with meth addiction and discovering he was HIV positive, and his openness has inspired fans to come clean about their own addictions. Apart from Jamar’s tears of joy, we’ve never seen him without a smile on his face. He even refers to his fans as his “family.”

We think this “comeback kid” is the most uplifting Voice contestant on the show!

4. He wants to make sweet musical love to P!nk

We all know that Jamar's coach Cee Lo Green is also his idol, but which female vocalist does he have a soft spot for? Pop rocker P!nk has caught the singer's attention. While chatting with social media correspondent Christina Milian, Jamar admitted that he would make “sweet musical love” to P!nk.

5. He is a crier

It doesn’t take much, but we catch Jamar in tears on a regular basis. It’s pretty adorable if we’re being honest. His biggest sob fest? When he won his battle round again Jamie Lono.

“I am the most crying ass man you will ever meet,” Jamar said in a conference call.

“I believe I started crying on stage, which I don’t advocate. What they actually edited out was about 15 more minutes of me crying backstage. I was just really proud of Jamie. And Cee Lo had said the most amazing words to me. He didn’t just affirm my artistry, he affirmed my character.”

It takes a real man to show that kind of emotion on live television!
