Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: How Will the Owen/Cristina Drama Affect Owen as Chief?

Beyond being utterly devastating to fans, the destruction of Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Cristina's (Sandra Oh) marriage could also impact their work lives. As we saw at the end of Grey's Anatomy Season 8, Episode 19: “Support System” Cristina has to find a way to focus on studying for the Boards despite her emotional turmoil. Meanwhile, Owen is still Chief.

Recently, Kevin McKidd spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what Owen's life as the big boss will be like in upcoming episodes

"There's a lot of stress in his life," Kevin explained (understatement, much?), "so he's trying not to let that affect his efficiency as the Chief ... He's just trying to keep his head up and keep going forward."

Meanwhile, the residents' trials and tribulations with the boards will impact Owen, too. "Some may be thinking about going to different hospitals," Kevin said. "So [Owen]'s got an eye on that, he's concerned about that."

And, of course he has to "make his recommendation as Chief, so it’ll be interesting to see who he recommends for what."

What we're interested to know is what he recommends Cristina for. Or will he have to find someone else to write her recommendation? They're technically still married, so that seems like a huge conflict of interest.
