Promo for Glee Season 3, Episode 16: Our In-depth Analysis of “Saturday Night Glee-ver”

Better strap on those dancing shoes, because Glee is about to get down, disco-style! We’ve already seen plenty of spoilers and sneak peek photos teasing what’s to come in next week’s Season 3, Episode 16: “Saturday Night Glee-ver,” but now we have an all-new promo with even more clues.

We’re analyzing every single second of the promo, frame-by-frame, searching for more clues. Take a look at what we discovered:

Scene 1a: We enter on a smoky, disco-lit dance floor.
Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Kurt (Chris Colfer), and Blaine (Darren Criss) slowly twist in the McKinley choir room, while glittery disco lights flash in the background.

Scene 1b: Mr. Schue starts things off. “We’re going back in time...”
Cut to The New Directions, standing in a line. They all look a little confused. (Oh, hi Joe (Samuel Larsen). Guess you’ve officially joined the glee club now!)

Scene 2a: Disco time!
The McKinley stage is decked out in purple lighting, with shining glitter in the background. “The show that defined a generation” — wait, they mean Glee, right? Cool! — “takes on a the music of an older generation.”

Scene 2b: Prepare for amazing dancing.
Mike (Harry Shum Jr.), Blaine, and Brittany (Heather Morris) walk down a trippy, swirling, disco-lit hall. One, we LOVE Blaine’s purple shirt. Two, whenever we see Mike and Brittany together, we know we’re in store for a bunch of awesome dance moves!

Scene 3a: It’s the original Saturday Night Fever dance floor!
White floor. Red, blue, and yellow lights underneath. It’s the exact same one! This time, Sue (Jane Lynch) and Will (Matthew Morrison) are the ones taking it for a spin.

Scene 3b: Burn, Baby, Burn!
Santana (Naya Rivera), Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Brittany are singing “Disco Inferno.” Just one of the many disco tunes that will be performed during the night. Mercedes’ red dress looks smokin’ hot.

Scene 4a: It’s Saturday Night Glee-ver!
Will: “I love that album.” Sue: “You bet your ass you love that album.”

Scene 4b: Now we’re back on the McKinley stage.
This time, it’s Brittany, Mike, and Blaine performing “Stayin’ Alive.” What did we tell you. That dancing? Awesome.

Scene 4c: Brittana SEX TAPE?!
“But will disco be someone’s downfall?” Brittany walks up to Santana in the hallway. “Everyone’s loving the sex tape of us.” Santana looks shocked. “What?!”

Scene 5a: “Grab your boogie shoes!”
Sue Sylvester’s certainly got her’s. They’re tall, white, and sparkly... We kind of want to get ourselves a pair!

Scene 5b: Puck (Mark Salling) begs to differ!
“There’s only one problem with that idea.” The entire New Directions chime in. “Disco SUCKS!”
Sue points at the camera. (Hah. Learned that trick from Cooper, didn’t she?) “Exactly.

As blown away by this promo as we are, there are so many more things it didn’t even cover! For instance, we didn’t even see one second of Glee Project finalist Alex Newell (Wade). He’s going to make his debut appearance in this episode!

Plus, what about Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff), who’s set to return as the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline? With Finn and Rachel’s relationship already on the rocks... we can’t even begin to imagine how the arrival of her ex-boyfriend will mix things up!
