Kanye West’s Ode to Kim Kardashian Is Now “Way Too Cold”
Kanye West is apparently too cool for drama. According to E!, the 34-year-old rap star has officially changed the name of his latest single, “Theraflu,” to “Way Too Cold” in response to the drug’s manufacturer’s complaints.
Earlier this month, Norvartis, the company behind the popular cold and flu drug, called out the famous rapper for using the product’s name without permission. They released a statement saying the company “in no way endorses or approves of the references or use of the image and likeness of Theraflu in this manner."
Always the wordsmith, West managed to downplay the name switch kerfuffle, calling it a "creative decision.” Yeezy also tweeted an official announcement about the moniker trade, which included a link to his official website for purchasing and downloading the track.
Fans of the original song needn’t worry, though: Only the name has changed, meaning the controversial lyrics remain intact. In truly nimble Kanye fashion, “Way Too Cold” manages to take swipes at NBA player Kris Humphries and PETA, as well as confess his love for rumored sweetheart Kim Kardashian. Now that takes talent!
Turns out, Norvartis isn’t the only organization up in arms over the litigious track, either. The song also includes the inflammatory lyrics, "Tell PETA my mink is draggin' on the floor.” The animal rights group wasted no time responding to Kanye’s blow with their own counter attack, a statement which read: "What's draggin' on the floor is Kanye's reputation as a man with no empathy for animals or human beings.”
