Boogie Shoes! Glee Season 3, Episode 16’s Best and Worst Song Performances — Do You Agree?

Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts... along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed the performances from Season 3, Episode 16: “Saturday Night Glee-ver,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. Do you agree with our picks?

Best Performance of the Night: “Boogie Shoes” by Wade

It’s a historic moment here: We’re giving the top spot to a Glee Project contestant for the first time ever! Don’t get us wrong — the original cast members impressed as always, particularly Mercedes’ (Amber Riley) “Disco Inferno” and Santana’s (Naya Rivera) “If I Can’t Have You,” but Wade’s performance here was stunning and truly unforgettable. It’s so great to hear Alex Newell whalin’ away on those killer high notes, and we loved his little mid-performance wink. (Translation: Suck it, Jesse St. James!) We’re guessing that both Beyonce and Andre Leon Talley would approve.

Worst Performance of the Night: “Night Fever” by Schue, Joe, and Kurt

The performances that relied the heaviest on mimicking ‘70s-style falsetto — we’re thinking of Schue’s (Matthew Morrison) “Night Fever” and Finn’s (Cory Monteith) “More Than a Woman” — we’re the ones that we found to be the least strut-worthy. Finn’s “Woman” was at least related to a cute moment in the plot, but “Night Fever” felt rather inessential. And we’d love for Joe to get a chance to shine, but this wasn’t the right song for him. However, we’re blown away that Kurt could do that awesome cartwheel. (Maybe there’s room for him on this summer’s Olympic men’s gymnastics team?)
