Grey's Anatomy

Should Meredith Really Move to Boston on Grey’s Anatomy? You Tell Us

At the very end of last night’s Grey's Anatomy (Season 8, Episode 20: "The Girl With No Name"), Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) were doing shots at the Seattle airport. About to get on flights to their respective East Coast interviews, they were pondering one of the biggest decisions of their careers: to stay or to go.

Cristina was absolutely certain that she wanted to leave Seattle Grace-Mercy West, but Meredith didn’t seem so sure. By the last scene, however, Meredith made it clear to her interviewer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston that it was her “first choice.”

We have to say, Mer seemed sincere in her assertion. But what would that mean for her relatively new family? Derek (Patrick Dempsey) appears to be satisfied (or as satisfied as McDreamy can be) with his role as the Head of Neurosurgery at SGMW. And Zola’s aunts (Derek’s sister Amelia and Meredith’s sister Lexie [Chyler Leigh]) are both on the West Coast. Not to mention her new baby friend Sofia.

Then again, Derek grew up in New York City, though traumatically. Would he be up for dropping everything and joining Mer in Boston? What about their dream house, which is finally close to completion? Sure, he said that they can find a new house and a new job on the East Coast, but would he really be willing to move?

Do you think Meredith should really move to Boston?
