The Vampire Diaries

Synopsis for The Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 20, “Do Not Go Gentle”: Haven’t We Been Here Before?

It should come as no surprise that in Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 20, “Do Not Go Gentle,” Alaric (Matt Davis) is still in danger. Even though he tried to murder her, Meredith (Torrey DeVitto) is still willing to give the deranged history teacher a second chance, with Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) help. While the adults are busy, the kids are ready to Decade Dance! It’s ‘20s themed, and everyone is coupling up. Bonnie (Kat Graham) asks her pseudo-bro, Jamie (Robert Ri’chard), and Elena (Nina Dobrev) invites Stefan (Paul Wesley) at Caroline’s (Candice Accola) urging.

The blonde vamp also has a date — Tyler (Michael Trevino). Apparently Klaus (Joseph Morgan) isn’t impressed with his competition and still tries to put the moves on his current infatuation.

Nothing can keep Damon (Ian Somerhalder) from a high school dance, of course, and he arrives to enlist Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), Matt (Zach Roerig) (we assume these two studs went to the dance together), Stefan, and Bonnie in breaking a potentially catastrophic spell. Somewhere, somehow, we hope everyone takes a break to do the Charleston.

WHAT THE WORLD HAS TO OFFER — Alaric (Matt Davis) finds an unexpected ally to guide him on his dangerous new path, while Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Meredith (guest star Torrey Devitto) try to figure out what their next move should be. At the school’s 1920s Decade Dance, Bonnie (Kat Graham) asks Jamie (guest star Robert Ri’chard) to go with her and, at Caroline’s (Candice Accola) suggestion, Elena (Nina Dobrev) asks Stefan (Paul Wesley) to be her date. Caroline is pleasantly surprised when Tyler (Michael Trevino) shows up at the dance determined to sweep her off her feet, but Klaus (Joseph Morgan) does his best to come between them. The dance takes a deadly turn when Damon and Stefan realize they need the help of Matt (Zach Roerig), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and especially Bonnie to undo a spell that could prove devastating for everyone. Josh Butler directed the episode written by Michael Narducci (#320).
