She might be thrown into adult bullying situations all the time on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but that's the deal Kathy Wakile signed up for when joining her cousin Teresa Giudice as a regular cast member on the show. Now, as a mom of two teens, Kathy is following in Caroline Manzo's footsteps and taking advantage of her fame to dish out some parenting advice.
Making an appearance in an anti-bullying PSA, Kathy urges parents or teachers who have been confided in, "Let the person being bullied know that you care. Walk with him down the hall, or sit with her at lunch. It could only take one friend to turn someone’s day around."
And while the New Jersey H'Wives aren't always the picture of parental responsibility, Kathy encourages parents to "model positive behavior for your kids by treating others with respect and speaking up when you see bullying behavior."
As for the kids who feel bullied? Kathy has some motherly advice for them too: "Always tell an adult...Over 50 percent of the time when a bystander stands up to bullying, the bullying stops within 10 seconds."
So, kids, find your inner Teresa and flip your lunch table over the next time someone messes with you!
