Glee Season 3, Episode 17 Promo: Our In-depth Analysis of The Whitney Houston Tribute, “Dance With Somebody”
Can you believe it? Glee’s long-awaited Whitney Houston tribute is just days away. Season 3, Episode 17: “Dance With Somebody” airs on April 24, and we’ve analyzed every possible second searching for clues on what to expect.
Join us as we break down the promo: second-by-second, frame-by-frame, to get a better idea of what’s in store for this sure-to-be-emotional tribute.
Scene 1a: Next Tuesday, 8/7c That’s right, Gleeks: No more annoying hiatuses for us. Glee is back with an all-new episode as soon as next week! Scene 1b: Cut to the McKinley hallway Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) is simply standing there, looking sad and introspective. Rachel (Lea Michele) sings a gorgeous rendition of Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know” in the background. Scene 2a: The goodbyes begin Puck (Mark Salling) in the guys’ locker room. “I’m only going to say this once...” Cut to Brittany (Heather Morris) and Santana (Naya Rivera) holding hands and dancing in the auditorium. The glee club gives high-fives all around. Scene 2b: Bro scene! Puck — ugh, not a good angle for that mohawk of his — Mike (Harry Shum Jr.), Blaine (Darren Criss), Sam (Chord Overstreet), and Finn (Cory Monteith) clink together shotglasses for a toast. (With apple juice, right? It’s got to be.) Puck: “I love you guys.”
Scene 3a: Watch out, Santana’s getting emotional She’s standing in the hallway with Rachel. “Oh, crap. I think I just realized I’m going to miss you. Say something irritating so I can get the taste of this out of my head!” (Sidenote: Kind of a mixed metaphor. But we’ll allow it. Because the thought is super-sweet.) Scene 3b: Rachel and Mercedes perform onstage. Rachel’s got on a gorgeous white dress that looks similar to the one Whitney wore to the 2009 American Music Awards. Not quite as cool at those white John Travolta jumpsuits we saw this week... but still pretty neat.
Scene 4a: Quinn in bed... with Joe! (Sort of.) It more like Quinn (Dianna Agron) is lying on a bed at a physical therapist’s office, and Joe (Samuel Larsen) is standing at her side and helping her to slowly stand upright. But hey, we’ve heard talk of a "juicy" scene coming up between these two, and we’re very anxious for it to happen!
Scene 4b: Emotions come out! Emotions of love, perhaps? Oh, and this, too: Kurt’s dad is back! But what does he mean, “I don’t want you to go”? Does Burt (Mike O’Malley) not like the idea of his son moving to New York City? Because need we remind you, congressman Burt Hummel won’t exactly be sticking around Lima, either. He’s headed for DC.
