Ever since her late-2010 stint in rehab, Demi Lovato has been remarkably forthcoming about her struggles with bipolar disorder, bulimia, and cutting.
But the 19-year-old Unbroken singer now admits to dealing with more than that triple-threat to her health. In an interview with UK’s Fabulous magazine (via Page Six), she touched on her past drug and alcohol use. "Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there," she explained. "They were basically kissing my ass. [...] Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says 'no.' That's why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me."
When asked specifically about cocaine use, she said, "It's something I don't really want to talk about. What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I'd come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay 'up.'"
Although she says she’s not fully recovered from her bulimia and cutting, Demi has certainly made great strides toward self-acceptance. "My outlook is more positive and I am happy," she concluded.
